We are seasoned national-circuit debaters and educators who experienced the transformative power of debate first-hand. After years working with students across the country, we recognized the lack of opportunities for middle school students and sought to help younger demographic find their voice.
Directed and staffed by experienced debaters, leaders and instructors, we have combined the best elements of the nation’s premier speech and debate summer programs to craft a curriculum that is both engaging and educational, equipping students with skills for success in debate, school, and life.
Our staff has accumulated years of teaching experiences, we’ve won tournaments from Berkeley to Harvard, and we’ve coached champion debaters. But above all, we are dedicated to giving back to the community by building students ability to reason, communicate, and think critically.
Atlas has developed a time-tested formula for teaching students of all experience levels. Our multifaceted approach is meant to make students learn to think critically, and feel comfortable with public speaking
All Experiences WelCome
When you apply for Atlas, you’ll be asked to list your child’s experience in speech and debate. Atlas will separate students by experience and age, that way students can learn with like-minded peers. Our students have coached students from zero experience to winning Novice NJ State Champion 3 consecutive years in a row. In addition, we’ve also taught more experienced students who have gone on to win tournaments like the Harvard Invitational. We’ll make sure your child feels comfortable, no matter their level of experience.
One-on-One Instruction
Atlas has a staff to student ratio of 1:8. This ensures that students receive a lot more personal attention and feedback. Through our curriculum, Atlas emphasizes personal instruction. There are built in office hours and mentor periods for students to be personally tutored by the staff. It is our foremost priority that every single student is learning—and no one is left out or neglected.
Learning By Doing
We believe in the age-old adage of “learning by doing”. Atlas students will learn about all the fundamental skills necessary to debate over a two week period. Then as camp comes to a close, students will put their learning to the test at the camp tournament. Our 2-day tournament will mimic the atmosphere of a real tournament, with our instructors acting as the adjudicators.
